an Accredited Canadian forces Museum
Welcome to the Cold Lake Air Force Museum (CLAFM), the only Cold War Radar Station in Canada that has been transformed into an accredited Air Force Museum.
Originally, the facility was built in the early 1950’s and served as a Cold War Radar Station to 42 Radar Squadron. In 1992, 42 Radar Squadron was relocated onto CFB Cold Lake and the facility was developed into a museum shortly hereafter.
The Cold Lake Air Force Museum is home to a small airpark. The four aircraft are displayed at ground level to optimize photographic capabilities. Inside the museum, the CLAFM preserves and exhibits the history of 4 Wing Cold Lake, from its earliest development to present day. Visitors will discover the growth and reconstruction of 4 Wing Cold Lake and its associated Squadrons and Units.
